The Southeast Asian Peoples Research Center exists for that very reason: to facilitate Great Commission Christians to engage the Southeast Asian Unengaged Unreached People Groups (UUPGs).
The Southeast Asian UUPGs are those people groups who do not have full-time workers involved in church planting and evangelism. In some cases, the people groups do not have written Scriptures, oral Scripture resources, radio broadcasts or Gospel recordings.
A people group is unreached when the number of Evangelical Christians is less than 2% of its population. It is further called unengaged when there is no church planting methodology consistent with Evangelical faith and practice under way.
A people group is not engaged when it has been merely adopted, is the object of focused prayer, or is part of an advocacy strategy. Moreover, engagement goes beyond making occasional trips to a UUPG. Engagement occurs when Great Commission Christians have in place among the people an intentional church planting strategy.
With the above in mind, OUR OBJECTIVES include . . .
- AWARENESS - make Great Commission Christians aware of who the Southeast Asian UUPGs are.
- UNDERSTAND - facilitate understanding the Southeast Asian UUPGs by providing people profiles, resources, etc.
- TOOLS - provide tools for Great Commission Christians and churches to research and conduct ethnographic research of the Southeast Asian UUPGs.
- TRAINING - provide training for Great Commission Christians and churches to research and conduct ethnographic research of the Southeast Asian UUPGs.
